The Touch Berlin Bears hosted their first tournament and nine touch football teams, from all around Germany followed the invitation.

There was beautiful, sunny weather last weekend, in time for the Spree Cup tournament to be held in Berlin. The Touch Berlin Bears hosted their first tournament and nine touch football teams, from all around Germany followed the invitation.

 

The Touch Football Association - Touch Berlin Bears was founded four years ago. The Team became known for their commitment to universities and schools, where the team recruits young and enthusiastic players.  Last weekend many of those touch rookie´s played their first competitive Tournament.

The Spree Cup games were held at a high professional level- special thanks to the full-time referees. During breaks, the four full-time referees took the time to coach the rookie players on how to improve their game techniques and strategies.

 

In an exciting final between Touch Berlin and Touch Frankfurt, Frankfurt was able to secure the tournament win after a dramatic extra time and extend their lead in the German championship. Awarded as best female player of the Touch was Svenja S. (Touch Cologne) and as best male player Ben E. (Touch Frankfurt).

 

The Spree Cup was a very successful tournament. In addition to the numerous touch games, other activities were organized to entertain both players and spectators during the summer heat, such as the limbo contest.

 

Stay tuned for upcoming events, starting with the Bavarian Open in Munich, the fourth tournament of the German Championship Series next weekend. Let’s see if the Frankfurt team can maintain their lead.
