Scorpions Put Some Sting into Shanghai

Under the auspices of new FIT member, China Touch Association, the 8th Shanghai International Touch Tournament was held recently, with approximately around 400 players from over 40 teams competing in Men's, Women's, Masters (35+), Mixed, Juniors and Corporate Divisions. The teams came from cities of Tokyo Japan, Putrajaya Malaysia, Manila Philippines, Hong Kong, Beijing, Guangdong, Nanjing and Yantai China - all converging on the SRFC grounds Wai Gao Qiao in Shanghai China.

The teams came from cities of Tokyo Japan, Putrajaya Malaysia, Manila Philippines, Hong Kong, Beijing, Guangdong, Nanjing and Yantai China - all converging on the SRFC grounds Wai Gao Qiao in Shanghai China.

One of the teams in attendance was the Scorpion SWiT (Scorpion Women in Touch) - a women's division of Scorpion Putrajaya Rugby Club (SPRC) from Malaysia. The SPRC is a registered club with the Commissioner Of Sports Malaysia and is very active in development of Men's, Women's and Junior's divisions both in Rugby & Touch.

Scorpion SWiT was first developed on December 6th, 2010, with fourteen (14) members consisiting of staff nurses and a few doctors from the Anaesthetic Department / Operation Theater of Putrajaya Hospital. It was launched by Datuk Hj Ahmad Phesal Hj Talib, Chief Secretary of Ministry Of Federal Territories And Urban Wellbeing Malaysia.

Prior to this Touch was played socially in many places in Putrajaya. SWiT have since developed into a more significant number of members and many more participants now join them. Today their numbers total fifty three (53) women, twenty four (24) girls under 14 in four schools and twenty nine (29) adults residents of Putrajaya.

The entire members of Scorpion Putrajaya Rugby Club (SPRC) convey their appreciation and thanks for a wonderful experience, and although only in Shanghai for 3 days, have vowed to return again soon.
