Touch Football Singapore (TFS) is pleased to announce the final selection of their Womens Opens team for the FIT World Cup of Touch in Scotland, in June this year.

Under the guidance of Chris Wall (Coach and ex-NZ representative) and Maureen Thomson (Assistant Coach and ex-Singapore representative) and with the support from their selection panel including Shane Morris (UWCSEA) and various 'spotters' asked to be included in the process — the team has been announced.

The selection process was not easy with approximately 50 players originally vying for a position in the team — all eager to take on the best in the world come June.

The team includes both youth and experience.

A number of team members have represented Singapore previously and participated at past world cup tournaments — so they know what lies ahead.

In particular Anne Goh (5th from left on FIT website banner above) will be contesting her 4th world cup. Anne was a member of the 1999 Open Mixed team that toured to Sydney and has toured since to Japan 2003 and South Africa 2007.

Other experienced tourists include Jeslyn Lim (Vice Captain); Haseena Allapitchay, Boo Hui Min, Xu Xue Ting and Karen Tham.

The TFS development pathway is also evident with junior players that have progressed through the junior ranks at both club and school level and have also represented at 20's category including Singaporean and expatriate players in Monique Ellis, Sylvia Chew, Lai Pui San, Alice Cooney and Yu Chien Chih — many having toured as open team reps' to the Australian NTL in 2010.

A player that has been a stand out at all levels of her participation over a number of years is Alvinia Ow Yong. 'Alf' is a young Singaporean representative that has been rewarded for her efforts as Captain of the national team and a well deserved accolade.

New players that have also been rewarded for their commitment and skills include Camille Bou and Jazreel Tan who will no doubt be excited to be involved at this elite level.

National team representation is a privilege and although there are a number of squad members that will no doubt be disappointed not to earn selection. All should be looking toward the next opportunity to continue their development and education and involvement in Touch as there will surely be opportunities in the future.

The 2011 national Open Women's team to contest the 7th Touch World Cup in Scotland in June includes:
